Casa Yoga shop t shirts and sports bra on top and leggings and hoodies on the lower railsCasa Yoga provides a range of yoga classes and a range of clothing, from its yoga studio in Sedgefield High Street. During the lockdown, the owner, Cristina Moreira, took the opportunity to refurbish the whole premises, creating a new larger studio at the back of the building.

As part of the refurbishment, Cristina called in the BEEP team to provide advice on what energy efficiencies the business could benefit from. A fully funded audit was carried out providing an in depth report which highlighted the need for new heating, as the existing heating was provided by a few aged storage heaters, as well as upgrading the lighting to LEDs.  Both options would reduce the ongoing electricity bills, as well as reducing the business’ carbon footprint by 4.6 tonnes of CO2 per year. There were also small savings identified such as thick blinds on the windows to reduce heat transfer during the winter months.

Cristina said “It has been a great experience working with BEEP. As a small business, we strive to be as energy efficient as possible and BEEP gave us some great advice and tips on how to achieve this. They were also able to help with a grant towards the cost of the work.”

Whilst yoga classes may still be being delivered online for the moment due to the pandemic, the yoga studio is looking fabulous and looking forward to opening its doors to clients in 2021.
